The Sport, Health and Performance Evaluation Centre (SHaPE) is an exercise physiology/human performance laboratory based at the Institute of Technology Tralee. This state of the art laboratory assesses aspects of health and exercise performance, through a series of relevant and accurate scientific tests, providing feedback and recommendations for physical Fitness.
Some of the tests used include:
Flexibility, Heart rate profiling, Isokinetic strength assessment, psychological support, nutritional assessment, body composition, anaerobic capacity, aerobic capacity, lung function and general all round health check.
The SHaPE centre operates as a teaching & learning environment for students, while it also engages with the wider community, (sports teams, individual athletes & community groups) for performance and health assessments.

The CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre Ltd. is the National Resource Centre for Adapted Physical Activity. It is a joint initiative between the Irish Sports Council and IT Tralee, with its office situated in ITT. It has responsibility for leading, coordinating and supporting the development of sport, physical activity and physical education for people with disabilities. In particular it is a national resource for supporting and facilitating the Sports Inclusion Disability Programme within the local sport partnership structure throughout Ireland.
