The ‘Class of 2020’ received their graduation awards at the Institute of Technology, Tralee’s Virtual Conferring of Awards Ceremonies on Friday 6th Novebmer. This year’s graduation was noticeably different as it was held virtually online due to the COVID19 Pandemic. The innovative online ceremonies were broadcast on the IT Tralee website.

IT Tralee’s Business students have won a national award for the best marketing campaign in the Smarter Travel Campus Awards organised by the National Transport Authority.

IT Tralee has won its second ELL Award; the first one was in 2006 and now in 2020 for the VOCAL in Need EU project. This project was funded by the EU Commission and monitored/coordinated by the Irish NA (National Agency) Léargas.

Annual Kerry Month of Enterprise showcases over 50 events across the county. Now in its 7th year, the annual Kerry Month of Enterprise (KMOE) is a month long series of events taking place in March 

Craig Lynch (Ballygarry House Hotel) and Karl Noctor (The Rose Hotel), final year students on the BA Level 7 National Culinary Apprenticeship Programme received gold medals and Best in Class in the Mystery Basket Competition, Senior Class, which is open to both college students and industry chefs.

A group of students, who are currently working within the Tourism and Hospitality industry in Kerry, received their certificates on completion of the Mixology Module. The Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Department hosted a dinner to mark the occasion.

The Certificate in Building Information Modelling (BIM) with Revit at IT Tralee has been nominated for an Irish Construction Excellence Award in the category "Third Level Course – Postgraduate or CPD".

The Kerry Sports Academy at IT Tralee is now open to the public for membership and Pay as you Go visits and will hold an Open Day on Saturday January 11th from 12-4pm.

The two projects funded for IT Tralee include the AgriTech Cluster and Circular BioEconomy Cluster South West.

The new programme, which will welcome its first cohort of students in January 2020, is designed to enable graduates to develop the skills and competencies in the emerging area of the bioeconomy.

The IMaR Research Centre at IT Tralee has been awarded funding by Enterprise Ireland for a significant investment into cutting-edge equipment for R&D in advanced manufacturing.

Today (Wednesday 9th October 2019) sees the announcement of a significant funding increase for Tertiary Education of €153 million, including a multi-annual programme of €90 million for Technological Universities. This announcement comes as part of the education provisions of Budget 2020.
