A comprehensive medical service is available to students through the Student Health Centre. A triage nursing service is provided five days a week during the academic year. A Doctor attends the Student Health Centre on a part-time basis.
As part of the registration process, it is recommended that students advise their Head of Department and the Student Health Centre of any medical condition that may affect attendance or academic performance. This information will enable the Institute to provide support and if appropriate, resources to assist the student during their studies in IT, Tralee.
Where is the Health Centre?
The Health Centre facilities are available in both the U-BLOCK, BIT Building and in A124 (SOUTH CAMPUS).
Can I see a Doctor?
To avail of the Nurse or GP Service, students must register before their first appointment. The Doctor attends the Health Centre during term time on every Monday through Thursday afternoons. All appointments to meet with the doctor must be arranged through the Nurse. Students contact the nurse (from 9.15am to 12 noon daily) to discuss options around booking an appointment.
How much does a visit cost?
The nursing service is available to all registered students (who present a valid IT Tralee student t-card) free of charge. The doctor service is free to students who present a valid medical card per visit (T&C apply). Students that have medical cards with Registered Doctors in Tralee (other than with the GP Service Provider at the Institute) are required to pay for appointments with the on campus GP service. Students who are non-medical card holders are charged a small nominal fee per visit (€10.00)
