WELCOME

The School of Health and Social Sciences is one of three schools within the Institute. It is made up of three departments:

• Nursing and Health Care Sciences
• Social Sciences
• Health and Leisure Studies

The School offers taught programmes ranging from Higher Certificate to Masters Degree. Increasingly courses are being developed and offered in partnership with colleges both nationally and internationally. The School continues to develop its on-line learning resources and some modules can be taken using a blended learning approach, i.e. a combination of attendance and on-line learning. Learners are also enrolled on research Masters and PhD programmes.

The Institute has a number of strategic research areas relevant to the School - these include the CARA Adapted Physical Activity Centre and the Centre for the Advancement of Inter-Professional Education (CAIPE). The School recognises the value of strategic alliances as a mechanism for obtaining feedback, for strengthening our core activities and creating opportunities for our stakeholders and ourselves. Each department within the School has developed a network of partnerships with a diverse range of organisations in our region, nationally and internationally.
