Education in Aquatic 1 – Aquatic teaching
(Level 1 Aquatic Teacher)
NFQ: Level 6
Credits: 5
Award Type: Single Subject Certification
A part-time, one-semester course (5 hours per week), with theory and pool-based content. This course includes significant in water practice and Aquatics teaching practice. Achievement of the aquatics awards in this course is subject to successfully passing the relevant examinations.
Additional Entry Requirements
Applicants must be confident swimmers.
Progression Opportunities
Progression to Education in Aquatics 3 (full swimming teacher and lifeguarding qualification).
Education in Aquatics 2 & 3
(Full aquatics teacher and lifeguarding)

Credits: 5 for Education in Aquatics 2 and 5 credits and Education in Aquatics 3
Award Type: Single Subject Certification
A part-time, two-semester (5 hours per week) course, with theory and pool-based content. This course includes significant pool practice and client-focused pool-based swim teaching practice. Achievement of the full aquatic Teacher qualification and Lifeguarding is subject to successfully passing the relevant examinations.

Applicants should be confident swimmers who have completed the level 1 Aquatic teaching qualification.

Progression to Education in Aquatics (4) Aqua fitness - REPs.
Education in Aquatics 4
(REPs aqua fitness)
NFQ: Level 7
Credits: 5
Award Type: Single Subject Certification
A part-time, one-semester (4 hours per week) course, with theory and pool-based content. This course includes significant pool practice and client-focused pool-based Aqua fitness teaching practice. Achievement of the REPS aqua fitness qualification is subject to successfully passing the relevant examinations to the required standard.

Applicants should be confident swimmers who have completed the full aquatics teachers qualification and Pool Lifeguarding course.
Progression Opportunities
Progression to Disability Swim Teacher and Halliwick Instructor.
Inclusive Aquatics
(Aquatics teaching for people with disabilities and Halliwick Instructor)

Credits: 5
Award Type: Single Subject Certification
A part-time, one-semester (4 hours per week) course, with theory and pool-based content. This course includes client-focused pool practice. Achievement of the aquatics teaching for people with disabilities qualification and Halliwick instructor qualifications are subject to successfully passing the relevant examinations to the required standard.
Additional Entry Requirements
Demonstrate competence in the water.
Progression Opportunities
Progression to Aquatic Rehabilitation as continuing professional development.
