Agricultural Engineering is a specialised branch of engineering concerned with the design, manufacture, modification and maintenance of equipment used in agriculture.

The graduates of this agriculture course have an excellent reputation within the industry and have the opportunity to work in the agricultural machinery area in Ireland and internationally. The course is accredited by the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (UK) and by Engineers Ireland.

Students work in state-of-the-art agricultural engineering workshops, a machinery hall, science laboratories, computer and electronics laboratories, a mechanical engineering laboratory, a machine and welding shop and a power units garage.

Agricultural Engineers are employed in the agricultural engineering industry in the areas of manufacture, maintenance and modification of agricultural equipment. They are employed in sales, service, installation and demonstration of agricultural equipment and in the importation and distribution of this equipment.

Agriculture course graduates obtain employment with agricultural machinery manufacturers, agents and sales companies and with farm contracting companies. Some agriculture course graduates become self-employed.
