The MTU holds a Mathematics examination for applicants who have expressed an interest in any of its programmes that require certain minimum levels of performance in Mathematics. The purpose of this examination is to provide such applicants with a “second chance” opportunity to achieve these minimum Mathematics entry requirements.
Basically, this means that you must meet the minimum entry criteria, and must meet the cut off points, but have not been successful in your mathematics Exam. The following would be an example of details for a programme in the MTU Kerry Campus
MT801 B.Sc. Hons in Computing with Software Development.
The Cut-off point in 2021 was 308
The Entry criteria was as follows:
Applicants must achieve a pass in the Leaving Certificate or equivalent examinations, obtaining two H5 and four O6/H7 grades. Candidates are required to obtain a minimum of O6/H7 in English or Gaeilge and mathematics.
If you achieved all of the above, but were not successful in the Maths exam, this examination is definitely for you!
